Microsoft debuts Remote Desktop for iOS alongside Windows 8.1 launch

Alongside todays launch of Windows 8.1, Microsoft has debuted its previously announced Remote Desktop apps for both iOS and Android. Perhaps late to the party, Microsoft's free app is designed to get you onto your PC from wherever you are. The feature list:

  • Access to remote resources through the Remote Desktop Gateway
  • Rich multi-touch experience with remote desktop protocol (RDP) and RemoteFX supporting Windows gestures
  • Secure connection to your data and applications with breakthrough Network Layer Authentication (NLA) technology
  • Simple management of all remote connections from the connection center
  • High quality video and sound streaming with improved compression and bandwidth usage
  • Easy connection to external monitors or projectors for presentations

There's no shortage of remote desktop options for iPhone and iPad users, but if you're teamed up with a Windows 8 machine then this might be just the ticket. And better still, unlike some other solutions, this one is free. Grab it from the App Store now at the link below. Does this scratch a particular itch for you?
